A Day Out With Thomas

We were all excited to go visit Thomas the Tank Engine In St. Thomas. We were up bright and early so we wouldn't be there when it was boiling hot. We were there for the 10:15am train ride. She was soooooo excited to finally see Thomas and be able to go for a ride on him.

The welcome sign when we arrived. She was giggling and screaming when she saw this sign. Can you imagine how she reacted when she finally saw the "real" Thomas....

Uncle Sim Budgell's farewell

Today one of the greatest men I have known other then my grandpa is being laid to rest . I am blogging about this because I want to remember the day and be able to talk to my little princess about it.

For those who knew him, he was a man with no education. But could fix anything wrong with a vechile. He couldn't read a map, but could travel anywhere and get to any place he needed to go. He couldn't spell much but he spell love to his family unconditionally. He was a man of giving but also a man of taking.

I have very fond memories of uncle when I was little and growing up. I lived with them for a while when my mom moved to Hamilton in 1979. I truly cared and loved him dearly.

Please rest in peace uncle Sim, please give nanna, poppa and my friend Pete a hug and kiss for me. Please tell them how much I miss them and love them, I will see them soon. love you!

ASKED TO GO...POTTY

Yesterday miss diva sat on the potty and went poop but it took her a while. She sat there playing with her hello kitty lego and having the T.V on as well. We were so excited that she finally went poop on the potty. She is catching onto this really fast. Faster then I expected.

This morning, she got up and we did our normal routine. We got dressed, combed out hair and put pretties in her hair, and starting brushing our teeth. We were like 2 seconds into brushing her teeth and I heard" momma, I gotta go poop." Quickly I sat her on the potty and she went . Good Job yan yan! This is the first time asking and actually doing her business. We are so excited!

It's funny the things you get excited about when you are parents.

Yayyyyyyy Yan Yan!

little miss smarty pants

Miss Diva has been in swimming lessons now for almost six months. She truly enjoys the water and looks forward to going swimming. On monday, the only thing that the instructor said she needs to be working on is blowing bubbles. Well, again, for a cleft child, this can be a challenge. She tries but it's just not happening.

The instructor was having a little one on one time with her and baba. She asked Miss diva, "Can you say daddy?" and miss diva responds with the correct answer and says "daddy.". Then she wanted her to say "daddy" under the water, to try and produce bubbles. So she said to miss diva, "can you say, daddy, under the water?" with no thinking about her answer miss diva said" daddy, under the water."

They instructor swam away from them laughing and told Jason she was to smart.

What a little miss smarty pants...lol

Baba's little girl

As soon as she wakes from her nap. she looks for baba and wanting up. She is a daddy's girl and they love each other so much.

                                                       love the smile Miss diva
In this picture, you can tell is a something other then just Asian. You can really see the mongolian in her especially around her eyes . I think she is so wonderful.

First Braids

I remember as a teenager growing up, I always invisioned a little girl with dark hair as my child. Never thinking.....I always thought about being able to braid her hair and put pretty bows and stuff in her hair. Miss Diva's hair is finally long enough to put it in a tiny braid. She thought it was so pretty.

I love being a momma to this little girl. GOD has really blessed us for our patience waiting the 4 plus years for our little miracle....

Final Pictures of play structure...it's done

I think this cafe in the back of the play structure is really cool. The kids love it. The play restaurant all the time. I love being a mom and being able to stay @ home with miss diva. It's a blessing for sure!

New Boots

Baba got new boots for work. She loves to dress up in my shoes and walk around the house also. When baba brought this into the house, she had to try them on. She told us" momma, I can't move" I guess not when your boots comes up to yours hips. Silly yan yan!

Beautiful little girl

Sometimes in our lives we think "what did I do to desreve this." Wether it's a good circumstance or a not so go.  When I look at our daughter I think "what did I do to deserve such a beauitful, fun, smart, strong willed , funny little girl. I feel so blessed.

I absolutely love Miss Diva in this colour. She is the center of my world. I love you Missy.

Swimming with a friend

One of the children I do daycare for had put a pool in their backyard. He was extremely to finally have it done so that Miss Diva could come for a swim with him. He is such a wonderful kid!

She  was more than okay with putting the life jacket on, that's swimming lessons.
Going for a float. This she was a little unsure about but after seeing her friend doing it, of course, she had to it. Just a little competitive!
Swimming with baba in the pool. We have to somehow convience baba to get one of these in the backyard.

Her place!!!

Last dance class for the summer

Tuesday was Miss Diva's last dance class for the summer. The last ten minutes of the class, the parents of the kids were allowed to go inside and see them perform. Oh my goodness , is it ever cute. The insructor had them pretending that they had a fairy in their hand and was helping her fly, and having the fairies land on their backs, legs and elbows. This was teaching them balance and so dance steps.

learning to suck

For anyone who knows anything about children born with a cleft lip and palate, there are some things that are issues for the them. Certian letter sounds for them are hard...for example, L, H,S,F and some others. Also things like sucking things from a straw. This is something that we learn to do @ birth, either learning to suck from a bottle or from being breast feed. Cleft babies have to learn this as well but is such a harder task considering their open palates. This isn't happening until their palates are repaired.

Miss Diva came to us with a repaired cleft lip and a unrepaired cleft palate. She was drinking from a cup and not knowing how to suck from a straw. When we arrived home, the cleft team in Hamilton was very impressed with her developed and told us not to worry, if she dosen't figure it out, not the end of the world. As a mom, I really wished she would have learned to suck from a straw because I don't want her going to school and being made fun of because all the other kids can drink juices boxes or from a water bottle but she can't. I didn't worry to much about this but was always in the back of my mind.

SOOOO......

One day we were outside playing and she saw me with juice that I was drinking with a straw. Of course she wanted some. I told her if she wanted some of my juice, she needed to drink it from my straw. I thought to myself....she can't drink from a straw so no worries. Well, did she ever fool me wrong.

She stayed there until she figured it out. She is so determined, she will not give up until she has accomplished what she is doing..We love you!
